Jennifer Carpenter Bio

Jennifer Leann Carpenter (born December 7 1979) is an American actress from the United States. Her most famous work is her role in the roles of Debra Morgan and Rebecca Harris in Showtime's Dexter. Carpenter began her character as Erica Shepherd in The Enemy Within which is an NBC drama. Carpenter's performance on The Exorcism of Emily Rose was her first major success. She was awarded the 2006 MTV Movie Award for Best Frightened Performance. She was also awarded the Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award. She was also awarded the title of "Breakout performer" at the 2006 Scream Awards. In 2007, she began dating her Dexter co-star Michael C. Hall. They were married in California on New Year's Day 2008. In December 2010, Hall and Carpenter released a statement announcing that they had filed for divorce after having been separated "for some time".The divorce was finalized in December 2011, due to irreconcilable differences; However, they remain close friends. Carpenter and Seth Avett got engaged in February 2015. The news was announced in August 2015 that Carpenter gave birth to a boy in May 2015. Carpenter also admitted she was eight-and one-half months pregnant when she began filming Limitless' pilot episode. Carpenter and Avett got married in May of 2016.
