Thora Birch

Thora Birch was born March 11 on 1982. She is an American producer, actress, and director. She made her film debut in Purple People Eater (1988) in which she was awarded the Young Artist Award for "Best Young Actress under Nine Years Old". Birch made her name as a child actor by appearing in films such as All I Want for Christmas (1991), Patriot Games (1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Monkey Trouble (1994), Now and Then (1995), and Alaska (1996).Her debut role in the film industry came in 1999 when she appeared as Jane Burnham in the highly well-received film American Beauty, for which she earned an BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In 2001, she played Enid in the cult classic Ghost World (2001), getting a nomination to the Golden Globe for Best Actress. Birch was nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance in Homeless To Harvard The Liz Murray Story in 2003. Her other films include Dungeons & Dragons (2000), The Hole (2001), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006), Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009), and Petunia (2012).After having an absence from acting, Birch resumed her career in the year 2016 and has since starred in several independent films. Birch was also the Whisperer Mary/Gamma during season 10 of The Walking Dead (2019-202). Birch was the oldest child born to Jack Birch (and Carol Connors) in Los Angeles. Birch her family's initial surname was Biersch and is German-Jewish, Scandinavian, French-Canadian and Italian ancestry. "Thora" is her birth name. It's derived from the Norse god Thor thunder and lightning. If it were a boy, she would have had the full name. Kian Bolt Birch is her younger brother. Both of her parents have been actors in adult-oriented films and starred in Deep Throat. Due to their own experience in the entertainment industry the parents were reluctant initially to encourage Thora. But, her photograph was shown to agents after a babysitter spotted her mimic commercials. Birch's first major break came around the age of 4, after her babysitter brought her to auditions for the Quaker Oats commercial.
