Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger is a daughter
of Kjellfrid Andreassen who was a former midwife as well as a nurse from
Norway. She was born on April 25 the year 1969, in Katy. Her father, Emil Erich
Zellweger, is a Swiss-born engineer. The couple were married in the year 1963.
Drew Zellweger is Renee's brother and was born on 15 February 1967. Renee
became interested in acting in high school while working on the drama club. She
attended an acting class at the University of Texas (Austin) and began to
consider acting as a profession. She had a strong desire to become an actor
after she graduated, but Hollywood can be a difficult field to get into. Renee
decided not to leave Texas and went to audition in Houston for roles. Matthew
McConaughey was another Hollywood newcomer she met working on the set of Texas
Chainsaw Massacre 2: The Next Generation (1994). Renee watched him work on a
project that caught her attention. She auditioned and got the part in Love and
A.45 (1994). The film was a success that earned her the critical praise to
decide to move to Los Angeles. A second role in The Whole Wide World (1996) was
followed, which brought about her breakthrough. Cameron Crowe was busy casting
Jerry Maguire (1996), starring Tom Cruise. Crowe was considering such actresses
like Cameron Diaz, Bridget Fonda, Winona Ryder, and Marisa Tomei, when he saw
Zellweger's performance in The Whole Wide World (1996). He attended an audition
with Zellweger and was confident that he'd found the perfect Dorothy Boyd.
Renee continued to be a huge success in small independent films. She was
praised again from critics and was confident enough that she was able to
reenter big-budget Hollywood films. Meryl Streep co-starred in One True Thing
(1998). She also took a role in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) in which she
starred alongside Jim Carrey, and soon after, she began to date Jim Carrey.
Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
