Amy Carlson
Amy Carlson was born in Glen Ellyn in
Illinois and was raised in Chicago. Amy lived in Glen Ellyn the city of
Illinois, up until she entered junior college. The family also resided in
Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb) taught at the American School.
Amy is the youngest of three siblings: sisters Betsy and Lori and brother Joe.
Amy has traveled all over Europe both on her own as well as with her family.
Both of her parents worked as teachers, so they had the opportunity to spend
their summers together camping and traveling all across the United States.
They've camped in every American state except Alaska. Amy went to Rwanda to
assist in relief efforts following the 1994 war. Amy was an accomplished actor
in school productions and was a winner of writing contests. In high school, she
was a promising athlete who placed in the very first 3200 meter relay in
Illinois girls track. After a college injury, she returned to the stage with a
variety of roles on stage starting with Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of
July" and directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy
attended Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois which is where she graduated in
cum laude. She graduated with the degree of B.A. East Asian history with a
particular focus on Theater. She moved to Chicago shortly after and then
studied Improv at the Improv Olympic and acting at The Actor's Center. After
graduation she was offered a permanent job for the no-longer-running soap show
Another World (1964). She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the
category of "Outstanding Supporting Actress in an Daytime Drama
Series". Her most memorable roles were of strong women in the roles of
Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone in Falcone (2000), Katie Owen
with Tom Berenger in Peacemakers (2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods.
Carlson currently resides in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of
Les Savy Fav), and she is the co-owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy is continuing
to write as well as search for diverse and distinctive roles in the film
industry.
