Anita Ekberg

 

Kerstin Marianne Ekberg (Swedish pronunciation (listen), 29 September 1931-11 January 2015.) was an actress from Sweden, popular for her gorgeous shape and beauty. Her fame was heightened by her iconic role in the role of Sylvia in the Federico Fellini film La Dolce Vita (1960). Ekberg worked primarily in Italy and became a permanent resident in 1964.Anita Ekberg was born on 29 September 1931 in (Sweden) and was the sixth of eight children. Anita was a fashion model during her teens. Ekberg took part in the Miss Malmo competition in 1950 after her mother's encouragement. She was crowned the Miss Sweden contest. Although she was not fluent in English and Swedish, she travelled to the United States to compete to win the Miss Universe title for 1951. Although it was a non-formal pageant but the official pageant was formalized in 1952. Ekberg did not win the title of Miss Universe winner, but she was among six semi-finalists. She did , however, earn an endorsement from Universal Studios as a starlet. As a starlet at Universal they gave her lessons in elocution, drama dancing, horseback riding and fencing. She appeared briefly in The Mississippi Gambler (1953), Abbott and Costello (as a woman in Venus), Take Me to Town (1853), and The Golden Blade (1953).
